The mission of Clover Park School District is to ensure each child learns what he or she needs to know to succeed and contribute to the community. The mission includes ensuring every student is "Career and College Ready" upon high school graduation. To be career and college ready in an ever-changing world, teachers and staff track each student's academic progress on the road from kindergarten through grade 12.
This spring students grades 3 through 8 and high school will demonstrate their knowledge, mastery, and understanding of Washington state's K-12 Learning standards on the Smarter Balanced tests in mathematics and English language arts. In addition, students in grades 5 and 8 will also take the Measures of Student Progress (MSP), which measures their understanding of Washington state's science content standards.
In Washington state as well as around the nation, colleges and universities have acknowledged the Smarter Balanced test as a good indicator of college readiness. Students earning scores of three or four on these assessments in high school can often go straight into credit-bearing college coursework and/or post-secondary job training without the need for remedial coursework, saving both time and money.
